About Bhanuprasad Sandesara

My name is Dr. Sandesara, and I am an associate professor and chief in the University of Florida Division of Geriatric Medicine. I graduated with my medical degree from B.J. Medical College in India and went on to complete my residency in internal medicine and fellowship in geriatric medicine at Saint Louis University Hospital in Missouri.

I am board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine and am a certified medical director. My specific areas of interest are anxiety and depression, delirium, dementia, deprescribing, geriatric syndromes, insomnia, mobility and falls, obstructive sleep apnea in adults, polypharmacy and urinary incontinence. I am the medical director at the UF Health Senior Care — Springhill and Oak Hammock at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

I received the Exemplary Teacher Award for 2014-15 from the University of Florida College of Medicine and am currently a member of many professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Geriatrics Society, Florida Geriatrics Society, FMDA – The Florida Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine and AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.

In addition to practicing medicine, I enjoy volunteering with the senior population and mentoring geriatric fellows, new physician assistants, nurse practitioners and advanced registered nurse practitioners.
